Our WindSupply project successfully exceeded targets for creating new jobs and securing others and was welcomed in the industry.
But as funding came to an end, so we had to close activity. We have, however, had positive response from a number of BCSD-UK member companies and from some of the companies engaged in the WindSupply project, offering support for somehow continuing the work and even expanding to cover other business opportunities arising in the renewable energy arena.
We are actively pursuing the possibilities of turning these private sector approaches into reality.
We will seek, if possible, to focus the work on innovation and supply chain penetration of the market.
Feedback from the Houston Exhibition/Conference is that the market over there is even more manic- explosive growth and of course the Round Three announcement this week for 25GW offshore is a major boost to the industry. It seems the message is now that the UK is the place to do business.
We would just like to get back into actively promoting UK content of that business.
If you would like to be part of our efforts and/or have some ideas for a way forward we would be pleased to hear from you. We will be continuing to try to find a route to re-establish activity.
